What is a podiatrist and why is Complex Foot Solutions different?A podiatrist is an allied health professional who studies and treats disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity. At Complex foot solutions our podiatrists focus on treating complex problems occurring in the foot largely as a result of diabetes, increased pressure on the foot or poor blood flow. Most of our clients will have serious foot problems including wounds or pressure injuries and may have associated infections.
-
Can I not be seen at a public hospital?Absolutely. If you have a significant problem with your feet such as a wound, infection or gangrene your GP, nurse or local podiatrist can refer you to a public hospital. Complex foot solutions give clients the option of seeing a highly skilled podiatrist who can provide continuity of care to ensure excellent outcomes for our patients in the private sector. We work hard to provide a flexible service and we are contactable between appointments for all your concerns.
-
Can I use my private health insurance? If your health insurance includes podiatry then claims can be made via hicaps on the day of your appointment and you will pay the gap fee which will vary depending on your level of cover. Please see relevant items numbers in our fee section which you can check with your health fund for estimated cover.
-
Does Medicare cover any of the costs? You can discuss with your GP as to whether you are eligible to get an Enhanced Primary Care plan. If you are then you can be allocated up to 5 visits to your chosen allied health profession (including your podiatrist). You will pay the full fee on the day and Medicare will rebate you $53.80 or sometimes a little bit more if you have reached the Medicare threshold.
-
What to bringA list of your medications, any previous orthotics, shoes that you wear the majority of the time (you may bring several pairs) and your health insurance card.
-
Do I need a referral? Most of our clients are referred by GPs, surgeons and nurses. However, you do not need a referral and contact us directly to book an appointment.
-
Cancellation PolicyWe understand that our clients often have many other medical appointments and complex health issues and cannot always make your appointment, but we ask that you please give 24 hours notice if you cannot make your appointment. If you need to rearrange your appointment and are concerned about the management of your foot whilst you wait for your next appointment, please leave a message with reception and a podiatrist will call you back to discuss your concerns.
-
My GP and nurse currently manage my wound, can you do anything different?"At Complex Foot Solutions we know we can’t treat all your problems! We aim to provide expert advice and treatment to ensure the best possible outcome for your feet. Often to do this we need to communicate with anyone who needs to be part of your plan. This may be your GP, nurse, another health professional, family or a carer to ensure you have a strong team of people working towards the same goal. We also have strong links with Vascular Surgeons, Endocrinologists (Diabetes Doctors) and local services to ensure you are seeing the best clinicians to heal your foot problem.
-
Do you do home visits?Home visits may be available for clients who have extreme difficulty getting to the clinic however the best place for your treatment is in our clinic. We provide a medically clean environment with appropriate lighting and safer positioning for both the client and the podiatrist to ensure optimal treatment.
